Thank you for visiting the Conant Farming Company website. In the pages that follow we will try and give you an insight into our business and what we are trying to achieve on behalf of our clients and ourselves.

Introduction

We began farming in 1949 with 200 acres at Hambleton and a further 100 acres at Lyndon being taken on shortly afterwards. The business grew steadily over the years as the let farms on the Lyndon Estate were given up and taken in-hand by the home farm. In 2003 we began contract farming and today we are farming over 2,574 hectares (6,360 acres) in the counties of Rutland, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.

The principal farming operations are carried out by The Conant Farming Company and include farms at Lyndon and Gunthorpe in Rutland, Bulwick, and Rockingham in Northamptonshire, and total 2,238 hectares (5,532 acres) of combinable crops. In addition we manage from the Estate Office in Lyndon, farms in Lincolnshire (West Laughton Farm) and Bedfordshire (Swineshead Farms) another 336 hectares (830 acres) both of which are farmed by outside contractors.

We feel we understand the needs of farmers and farm businesses because of the range of farm businesses in which we are involved. We are always interested in looking at new opportunities, whether it be contract farming or any other land management opportunities that arise.
